Angela Tennison is a strategic dream shaper who helps leaders crystallize, cultivate, and conquer their dreams. As a veteran of the Obama Administration and 2008 presidential campaign, Angela is fiercely proud of her role in helping to elect the first African-American president of the United States and serving in his administration for 7 years. Angela recently concluded a political appointment as the first Leadership Development Director at the U. S. Department of Education where she created programing to improve employee engagement and reduce turnover. Prior to that role, she became the first African-American woman White House Usher where she served as a senior manager in the White House Executive Residence and managed staff, logistics, and operations for the 44th President and First Family.
Before transitioning to politics Angela was a licensed financial services professional at TIAA-CREF and licensed NC real estate broker. With almost two decades of combined experience in corporate, government, political, and entrepreneurial sectors, Angela carries a unique perspective in developing leaders and navigating varied organizational structures. Armed with her diverse experiences and two coaching certifications, she brings a compassionate and comprehensive style to leadership coaching.
Angela created her own enterprise, The Leaders Coaching Group, where she has infused her experiences, passion, and expertise to underpin her success as a leadership coach. She loves coaching leaders to ultimately have more clarity, confidence, and courage to lead the life they are called to live. Angela earned an M.A. in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University, along with an M.B.A. and B.S. in Finance from Winthrop University. She is also a certified life, career, and executive coach, as well as a Certified High Performance Coach.
